I've been to many places in Japan, namely Okinawa, Fukuoka, Saga, Osaka, Tokyo and Kyoto. During the trip in 2011 ,I had spent 7 days in Tokyo together with my family without a tour guide. My main focus of course is Ikebukuro. Being a big fan of Durarara!!, I had visited some places that have shown in the story, including Ikebukuro-Eki, West Gate Park, Sunshine60 Tori, Animate Headquarter, Otome street etc. I would say it was really fun and enjoyable experience to wander around the city , to discover the lively side of Ikebukuro and to look forward to see something interesting just like what have happened in Durarara!!. I read Drrr!! again after the trip and I found that the story seems even more realistic and fall in love with it again.

The following sites will be useful if you wanna have a Seichi Junrei (聖地巡礼) of Drrr!!:

If you wanna try Onsen, Oedo Onsen Monogatari Hot Springs is a good choice. It is available in many main districts in Tokyo. The entry ticket is of reasonable price and the quality of the Onsens are really good and you've got many choices. Oedo Onsen always has joint project with anime so you can get souvenir (mainly anime items) after enjoying the hot spring.

I highly recommend you to have breakfast in Tsukiji market. Do try Tama-yaki, Sashimi-Don and Gyu-don. However, you needa check the opening time of the market before you go and I suggest you better go before 8 a.m.(It takes around 20 minutes by JR from Ikebukuro and a 10-minute walk. But the food WORTHS ^_^ )

Wow, Thanks. This is really informative.
Originally was planning to spend more time in Kyoto (For the sights and historical buildings.), Osaka (for the food). Then Finally Tokyo (For everything anime related, and game related) Was going to visit, Shibuya, since I grew up watching City Hunter, But Ikebukuro sounds awesome. Will definately have to check it all out.

Also thanks for Onsen information. I have been doing my own searches but they are limited.
Had to learn to read Japanese, I can read it but the Kanji usage is kinda confusing.
